- Season 7 will drop on Netflix in 2025
- One episode will be a sequel
- Creator Charlie Brooker has promised a “back to basics” season

It won’t be too long before Charlie Brooker plunges us back into brave new technologically-driven worlds for the seventh season of Black Mirror.
The sci-fi anthology show’s last season dropped in 2023, consisting of five new episodes – Joan Is Awful, Loch Henry, Beyond The Sea, Mazey Day and Demon 79.
Inevitably, it quickly leapt to the top of streaming charts and was regarded as an improvement to the divisive fifth season.
Next year, Brooker will be following it up. But what do we know so far about what’s to come?
What will happen in Black Mirror season 7?
In September, Brooker told attendees of Netflix’s Geeked Week that they can expect “a mix of genres and styles” from the six new episodes.
“Two of them are basically feature-length. Some of them are deeply unpleasant, some are quite funny, and some are emotional,” he added.
Brooker has also mentioned that the new season was “a little bit OG Black Mirror.” He added, “It’s back to basics in many ways. They’re all sci-fi stories, but there’s definitely some horrifying things that occur, but maybe not in an overt horror-movie way. There’s definitely some disturbing content in it.”
Notably, the season will feature the show’s first ever sequel episode. Viewers will get to revisit the world of the beloved Season 4 episode USS Callister.
“Fans of the show will recognize the cast of a certain spaceship from one of our episodes reappearing,” Brooker said on stage. “We’ve done a sequel for the first time in Black Mirror history. Normally, I kill off all the characters at the end of an episode, and I kept some of ’em alive. I’m growing as a human.”
Who’s in the cast for Black Mirror season 7?
Brooker said that the cast was “embarrassingly stacked” and he wasn’t wrong.
The huge ensemble cast features the likes of Issa Rae, Awkwafina, Chris O’Dowd, Paul Giamatti, Tracee Ellis Ross, Rashida Jones, Emma Corrin and Peter Capaldi.
Joining them are Patsy Ferran, Lewis Gribben, Rashida Jones, Siena Kelly, Rosy McEwan, Paul G. Raymond, Tracee Ellis Ross and Harriet Walter.
When will Black Mirror season 7 be released?
The release date for season 7 of Black Mirror has not yet been confirmed. All we know so far is that it will drop some time in 2025.
