A new Netflix documentary is taking fans behind the scenes of the spin-off theatre production in London.
Behind the Curtain: Stranger Things: The First Shadow will arrive on Netflix on 15 April, offering an “electrifying look backstage” at the making of the play before its West End launch.
From director Jon Halperin, viewers will see the cast and crew get Stranger Things: The First Shadow ready in time for its first performance.
“The challenge is to create a visceral experience for the audience, where they feel shock and awe, surprise and delight,” said director Stephen Daldry. “You have to deliver that. The fusion of television and theater is about the speed of narrative and how you create it … There are moments in the show where you will think: I don’t understand how they did that.”
What is Stranger Things: The First Shadow about?
Stranger Things: The First Shadow is a prequel to the original series. Set in 1959, it follows the Creel Family moving to Hawkins, Indiana for a fresh start. The teenaged Henry Creel quickly makes friends at his new school, but quickly discovers something dark hidden inside of him. Eventually, he will come to be Stranger Things villain Vecna.

The series’ creators, the Duffer Brothers, also created the show. It began running in the West End in December 2023. The play is about to start running in Broadway and its opening coincides with the release of the documentary.
What’s the latest on Stranger Things season five?

We don’t yet have a release date for Stranger Things’ final outing, but it seems like it’ll be later this year.
Rumors suggest it could land in October with its first batch of episodes. The concluding part could be set to debut a short while later.

We don’t know too many specifics regarding plot. However, it’s expected to tie up any loose ends surrounding the eerie events in Hawkins, Indiana.
Episode titles were unveiled on Stranger Things Day 2024. This happens annually on 6 November which is the same date that Noah Schnapp’s Will Byers disappeared into the Upside Down in the show’s first season.
The names of each upcoming episode are The Crawl, The Vanishing of [blurred out], The Turnbow Trap, Scorcher, Shock Jock, Escape from Camazotz, The Bridge and Rightside Up.
