The Saturday Night Live remake will premiere in 2026 on the UK channel Sky. Three and a half years ago, the remake was announced, but it has officially been greenlit.

Michaels, 80, will serve as an executive producer on the show. It will be produced by Michael’s Broadway Video and Universal Television Alternative Studio’s UK team.

Thankfully, there are no major changes to the show’s layout – there will still be musical guests, sketches, and an opening monologue.

Cast members for the show have not been announced yet, but some prominent UK comedians could join. Here is a quick list of some good picks:

  • Jack Whitehall – known for Bad Education and Fresh Meat
  • Russell Howard – known for The Russell Howard Show
  • Sacha Baron Cohen – known for playing Ali G
  • Jo Brand – known for Getting On
  • Amelia Dimoldenberg – known for Chicken Shop Date
  • Sarah Millican – known for multiple TV shows

Those are just some ideas!

Cecile Frot-Coutaz, the CEO of Sky Studios, said of the announcement: “For over 50 years, Saturday Night Live has held a unique position in TV and in our collective culture, reflecting and creating the global conversation all under the masterful comedic guidance of Lorne Michaels.”

She continued, “The show has discovered and nurtured countless comedy and musical talents over the years, and we are thrilled to be partnering with Lorne and the SNL team to bring an all-British version of the show to UK audiences next year – all live from London on Saturday night.”

Is there an official premiere date yet?
