- Aimee Lou Wood was the butt of a SNL joke about her teeth
- The White Lotus star took to her Instagram to call it out
- Her army of dedicated fans backed her up

Aimee Lou Wood recently became the name on everyone’s lips for her excellent turn as Chelsea in the third season of The White Lotus. Playing the free spirit dating Rick (Walton Goggins), she charmed everyone with her whimsical attitude to life, love and delivering it straight to finance bro Saxon (Patrick Schwarzenegger).

Wood also sparked a lot of discussion about her teeth, which some considered to be enough to write whole articles about. Probably upsetting to magazines like Vanity Fair because she hasn’t got veneers. Hollywood can’t seem to understand how someone might not want to get their ground down to nubs and have chewing-gum-sized chunks of porcelain whacked on top.

SNL has become the latest large cultural institution to bizarrely make a thing about Wood’s teeth. In their skit, titled White Potus, the long-running NBC sketch comedy took aim at President Donald Trump and his closest allies. It also featured an extremely exaggerated version of Wood’s character, making much of her accent and teeth.
What did Aimee Lou Wood say about the sketch?
Aimee took her Instagram to express how disappointed she was in the show.
“Whilst in honest mode – I did find the SNL thing mean and unfunny,” she wrote before writing she might delete the post.

“I did find it mean and unfunny… such a shame cuz I had such a great time watching it a couple weeks ago. Yes, take the piss for sure — that’s what the show is about- but there must be a cleverer, less cheap way?” pic.twitter.com/N6tSECmcIV
In a follow-up post, Wood added, “Such a shame cuz I had such a great time watching it a couple weeks ago. Yes, take the piss for sure – that’s what the show is about – but there must be a cleverer, more nuanced, less cheap way?”

Did SNL apologise to Aimee Lou Wood?
Wood later revealed that SNL offered her an apology for the sketch.
She also said, “Last thing I’ll say on the matter. I am not thin skinned. I actually love being taken the piss out of when it’s clever and in good spirits. But the joke was about fluoride. I have big gap teeth, not bad teeth.
“I don’t mind caricature – I understand what SNL is. But the rest of the skit was punching up and I/Chelsea was the only one punched down.”
