Say it isn’t so, are Blake Lively and Taylor Swift no longer friends? Some internet users think so. Following the Lively and Baldoni lawsuits in the last few months, fans think Swift has distanced herself from the actress.
Her song My Tears Ricochet was used on the movie’s soundtrack, prompting reports that Swift, 35, will be subpoenaed in the case, which goes to trial in March 2026. Coupled with the fact that she is close friends with Lively, 37, she is likely to be called to the stand.
While sources have not spoken much about the ladies’ friendship, it does seem like they may not be as close anymore. Swift’s last public outing with Lively was in October 2024 on a double date with their beaus.
With their friendship hanging in the balance, let’s reminisce on their friendship before things got messy.
Blake Lively and Taylor Swift – their friendship
Early friendship
Swift and Lively have been friends for years, and one of the first instances of their friendship was in July 2016. Swift held her prestigious yearly Fourth of July party with her beau Tom Hiddleston and Lively in attendance.
Later that year, Lively posted a photo of Swift and wished her a happy 27th birthday with the caption, “People Who I Not Only Really Love, But Also Really LIKE, That Were Born Yesterday: Part 1 of 2.🎈 @taylorswift you know how I feel. 💜”
In 2017, Swift released her highly anticipated album Reputation, and the track Gorgeous featured Lively and Ryan Reynolds’ daughter, James, saying the track’s title. When she toured and played the song, the proud parents were seen cheering at a show.
More recently, in 2019, the two were spotted in a picture for Swift’s New Year’s party. Lively was dressed as Dorothy from The Wizard of Oz, while Swift was dressed as Ariel from The Little Mermaid.
When she turned 30 at the end of the year, Lively and Reynolds featured again in a photo with Swift, kissing in the back. How cute.

Following half a year of silence, Swift namedropped the Reynolds-Lively children’s names in her song Betty. Their three daughters, James, Inez, and Betty’s names were featured.
In her speech after winning Album of the Year for Folklore, Swift said: “James, Inez, and Betty and their parents…[They] are the second and third people that I play every new song that I write.”
Again, Lively wished Swift a happy 31st birthday, and in October 2021, Swift accompanied her friends on a Halloween trick or treat outing with their kids.
Lively and Swift later collaborated on Swift’s music video for her song I Bet You Think About Me.
When the video was nominated for an award, Swift congratulated Lively.
Moving into the later part of 2022, Lively and Reynolds attended the screening for Swift’s All Too Well short film, part of the Tribeca Festival.
On her Instagram, Lively shared a photo of her big pregnant belly in September 2022 among a carousel of photos that announced her pregnancy. In one, Swift could be seen with her arms around the actress.
In the latter half of 2022, Reynolds gushed in an interview over Swift, saying he and his family would do “anything” for her. He added that he and their family are “obsessed” with Swift’s album Midnights, which had just been released.
When Swift won favorite pop album at the American Music Awards in November 2022, she gushed over Lively: “I want to take a moment to thank someone who directed the music video I Bet You Think About Me, my beautiful, brilliant friend, my director, Blake Lively.”
2023-2025 – more collaboration and friendship gone?
Soon after she was fresh out of the slammer from her ex-boyfriend Joe Alywn, 34, Swift had a girls’ night out where she was spotted with Lively, the Haim sisters, and other close pals in April 2023.
After her Eras Tour had kicked off, Lively came to a show with her daughters, and in September, the two reunited in their fave city, New York, for another girly dinner. By this point, Swift had begun dating Kelce and had shown up to many of his Kansas City Chiefs games.
In December (Swift’s birthday month), the two hung out and were spotted at Swift’s birthday celebrations in her Instagram photo. Lively commemorated the occasion with her annual birthday post to Swift.
Last summer in August, Swift had another hot summer party at her Rhode Island pad. In attendance were Reynolds and Lively, who were papped in and around the house.
Now, moving on to the last known occasion. The Corner Store in Soho was the location for a double date night between Swift, Lively, and their beaus in October 2024.
Once again, Lively and Reynolds attended another of Swift’s Eras Tour shows in New Orleans.
Following the tour shutting down in December 2024, the lawsuit was filed.
Did they remain friends?
Back in January 2025, a source told US Weekly, the two remain “close friends” amid the lawsuit coming out. However, Swift did not speak publicly in defence of Lively.
In February, reports said that Swift had distanced herself from Lively, but now it appears the two may be talking again. A source allegedly told NewsNation “Swift and Lively have worked everything out. Blake apologized, and they are talking again.”
But now with her being subpoenaed, will they stay friends?
