Don’t worry, it wasn’t without a reason! Gomez has been all over the news recently after getting engaged in December and starring in Emilia Perez. In December 2024, Gomez got engaged to music producer Benny Blanco, she has been dating him since 2023. The Only Murders in the Building star has been strangely public in her relationship with Blanco, something she hasn’t done in years.

The 32-year-old has also been in the headlines for resurfaced ‘drama’ between her and model Hailey Baldwin. The ladies share an ex, Justin Bieber, who married Baldwin (now Bieber) in 2018. However, Gomez has been focused on her relationship and music, so why did she crash a movie screening? Read on to find out.
Why did she crash a movie screening?

She didn’t do it for fun if that’s what you’re thinking. At an IMAX screening of Spring Breakers in New York, Gomez and Blanco crashed the screening in a surprise gesture. People at the screening screamed while Gomez greeted the audience.
Speaking to those at the screening, she said, “Hi guys. Did you guys enjoy one of my favorite movies ever?”

In Spring Breakers, Gomez played Faith, a girl who is a devout Christian but is friends with girls who like to party. The plot surrounds the four young women who get arrested and caught up with a drug dealer who wants them to join his business.

After the crowd calmed down, Gomez pulled out a phone to take a picture with the crowd and promised to send it to Korine.
But why did Gomez and Blanco randomly appear at a screening of a 12-year-old movie? Well, to promote their album.
Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco’s album
Gomez introduces Blanco to the crowd and he jokingly says, “Spring Break forever, maybe?” Blanco continues, “We have an album coming out tomorrow. We wanted to do something special for you guys. We’re gonna play a song that hasn’t been heard yet. We’re actually going to give it to you a day early on a USB when you leave.”
On 21 March, Gomez and Blanco will release their collaborative album I Said I Love You First. I Said I Love You First is produced by Blanco and is part of his now-defunct label Friends Keep Secrets. They have released some songs from the album, including the recent suggestive track Sunset Blvd.
At the screening, Gomez and Blanco gave fans a sneak peek at the new track Bluest Flame.
Following the screening, the singer premiered the song on her social media. A video shows Gomez lip-syncing the lyrics and lighting a flame in a dark room.
On his way out with his fiancée, Blanco cheekily told the crowd, “The label is probably gonna shoot us, but, thanks guys”.
That is one way to promote a new song!
