Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco have struck again with another song and music video, but this time, it’s more suggestive. The couple announced their collaboration album I Said I Love You First in mid-February. A few songs from the album are already released including a song with singer Gracie Abrams. The album is set to release on 21 March and will be released under SMG Music, Interscope Records, and Blanco’s recently closed label Friends Keep Secrets.

Blanco and Gomez have made the headlines since their relationship was first announced. News broke that the singer and music producer were an item in December 2023 when Gomez confirmed the romance. Since then Gomez and Blanco have packed on the PDA and were engaged in December 2024. Fans couldn’t be happier for their favorite singer, whose most public relationship was an 8-year on-and-off relationship with Canadian singer Justin Bieber. Jelena is dead guys, get over it!

In a newly released song titled Sunset Blvd, Gomez sings on a low-fi beat about suggestive themes with her lover. Some suggestive lyrics include, “I know you’re shy But I can’t wait to hold it, to hold that.” There are other saucy lyrics in the song, but the music video and the spicy level had fans talking.

Gomez wears black lingerie and hair that is so perfect and gives Hollywood glamor. But how did fans react to the music video and the wild lyrics of the song? Read on to find out!

Many of the fans loved the vintage 80s look to the music video. However, a lot of fans on X were not fans of the explicit feel of the song’s lyrics. The 32-year-old singer has similar themes in her other songs, but nothing this bold!

The song is a ‘mess’ according to some fans

Unfortunately, not everyone was getting the Sunset Blvd vibes. One user on X wrote, “This song is so bad.”

While some fans didn’t like the song and its sound, others appreciated the music video.

One account posted: “Music video ate and she looks so pretty but the song is not my thing”.

Gomez and Blanco’s music video seemed to be enjoyed by fans more than the song and the lyrics.

Even Selenators were shocked by the lyrics. You and everyone else…

Excitement for Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco’s new era

Excitedly, one user declared that “pop is back” and with a track like this, we are inclined to agree.

Meanwhile, another Selenator declared in a post, “Best music video released this year already.”

Online fans continued to support Gomez with another fan posting a clip from the music video and declaring it “song of the year.”

An old fan of the singer declared they hadn’t felt this way about a song released by the singer since 2022. In 2022 Gomez did not release much solo music, she released a song titled My Mind & Me but released her last studio album Rare in 2020.

An Alex Russo reference?

Eagle-eyed fans on X quickly pointed out a Wizards of Waverly Place Easter egg. One fan posted a side-by-side of Gomez’s character from Wizards of Waverly Place and Gomez in the music video. In one clip, Alex Russo, Gomez’s character in the show is putting a shrunken man into her bag. In the Sunset Blvd music video, Gomez eats a small version of Blanco.

Talk about some similar visuals!

They claimed that Gomez “reheated Alex Russo nachos.” In social media land, it means Gomez took inspiration from the Wizards of Waverly Place moment and recreated it in her music video. “Reheated nachos” is a new social media term, we aren’t sure where it came from!

So far Gomez and Blanco have released three songs from the 14-track album. Stay tuned for updates on Gomez and the upcoming album.
